Hello Everyone,
I hope you are all
well! We (meaning the 11 new missionaries) left the MTC at 3am on
Monday morning, got on a plane at 6, then made
it to here by about 3ish. Exciting huh? :) We met President and Sister S at the airport and I absolutely LOVE them. I am so blessed to have such a great
mission president and mission mom! We stayed in a hotel that night then went
back to the mission home the next day to meet our trainers.
My trainers name is
Sister W. We get along really well and I think we'll
have a super successful transfer together! As a mission, we have a goal to find
100 new investigators in May and then have 60 baptisms in June :) It think it's
possible! We pray to reach these goals in every prayer. After we met our
trainers and had lunch, Sister W informed me that we had
three teaching appointments that day! So we definitely hit the ground running
:)
Our first lesson was
with a guy named Theo. Sister W and Sister E met him Monday night
in the parking lot of a pizza joint. He has been looking for a religion to join
and wants it to be the right one... Can you say GOLDEN?! They asked him when he
wanted to meet, and he said, "How about right now?" So they taught
him the restoration while sitting on a curb across the street from the temple.
He has a really strong desire to be baptized and go in the temple someday which
is so incredible. We taught him the plan on salvation and touched on the Word
of Wisdom yesterday then walked around the temple because he wanted to go
over there so bad :) In our lesson we had talked about what the
spirit feels like, so when we were on the temple grounds he said,
"Remember that warm feeling we were talking about? I feel it right
now." :) I'm so excited for Theo! I think God knew that I would need
an investigator like Theo in my first week in the mission
field. I dont believe in coincidences. He has a baptismal date set
for June 9. So pray for Theo :)
Our other two lessons
were with a guy named Dylan and Abraham. Dylan flat out told us he isn't
interested, so I dont know if we'll see him again until his heart is softened.
And Abraham is really confused because the Jehovah's Witnesses have been
talking to him too. We just answered some of his questions and talked a lot
about the Book of Mormon with him. He really just needs to pray and ask God if
the Book of Mormon is true. Then life will be smooth sailing :)
Sister W and I
live in a little apartment. We
are serving in a YSA ward and it's a BLAST! Our area is huge so
we have a car. It's definitely a blessing because it's been raining on and off
for the past two days. I cant believe the humidity too! Wow! Since I have never
left the western US before, this is a little bit of a weather shock :) I walk
out our front door and it feels like I just walked into a bathroom after
someone took a hot shower! Hahaha. That's the best analogy I can come up with.
We visited the mission
office and went grocery shopping today. Which has definitely been a good
thing because we had zero food. Which is no bueno :) So I bought stuff to
make southwest chicken, poppyseed muffins, malibu chicken and all that jazz.
Sister W is pretty happy that I can cook :) Hahaha.
I love my mission. One
of the highlights of the day is putting on my name tag every morning. What a
privilege it is to be serving a mission at this time! I know I am exactly where
the Lord wants me to be right now and that is seriously the best feeling ever.
I know God lives and that we are His children. He loves us and is mindful of
us. My testimony of prayer has been strengthend immensely in just these past
few weeks! I feel like I am praying every 5 minutes :) Hahaha. I just know I
can't do this alone.
Love and prayers
forever, B
